Abdul Samba Brima

Abdul Samba Brima is the West Africa regional editor for China Dialogue, currently based in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

He has worked as a broadcaster, editor, journalism trainer/mentor, multimedia producer, and freelance writer for over 10 years. He has worked on different projects in various places, including Sierra Leone, South Africa, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Zimbabwe.

Brima has written many articles and produced multimedia stories on different subjects, including a recent investigative podcast on industrial palm oil plantations and their impact on the local economy in rural Sierra Leone. He is passionate about the environment and climate change issues and has produced different multimedia stories on climate change.

He has also reported heavily on maternal and child health within the African sub-region and has produced stories on malaria and other diseases in the sub-region.

He is a former media fellow with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS Media Africa), having received a master’s degree in journalism and media studies from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Brima also holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.

In addition, he is a climate change reporting fellow with Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID).
