Jack Chance

GRANTEE

Radio producer and sound recordist Jack Chance has worked with indigenous communities in remote locations in over thirty foreign countries, documenting traditional ethnic music and assisting local cultural preservation organizations.

He has produced radio programs for National Public Radio's Day to Day Show, PRIs The World, Minnesota Public Radios The Savvy Traveler, Chicago Public Radio's Re:sound program, the Nature Conservancy podcast, hearingvoices.com and the Outer Voices Radio Project.

Jack has helped preserve audio recordings for Easter Island's Museo Anthropológico, documented endangered native languages in Alaska, taught radio journalism to Burmese refugees, recorded and designed soundscapes for films, museums, and websites, and written about traditional music for Rough Guides guidebooks.  Jack is also the director for the Mountain Music Project, a musical-cultural exchange between American and Nepali folk musicians.
