GRANTEE, PROJECT REPORT WINNER6

Samantha Danis was one of five winners of the 2010 Pulitzer Center YouTube Project Report contest.  Her work with the Pulitzer Center began with A Day in the Life of Alice Fogg, documenting an 82-year-old woman from Naples, Maine who sews pillows for injured American soldiers in Iraqi hospitals. She then reported on the hardships faced by the deaf community in Without a Sound. Her next reporting project will take her to Central America where she will create a short documentary on maternal mortality improvement efforts in Belize.
Samantha’s passion for journalism began at age 15 the moment she stepped foot inside her first school newspaper meeting. She went on to receive several awards throughout New England and attended journalism conferences in California and New York City. She later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maine in 2010 and plans to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time documentary filmmaker.
