Brandon Nichols

CAMPUS CONSORTIUM ADVISORY COUNCIL

Dr. Brandon Nichols serves as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Olive-Harvey College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. He describes himself as being a mission-driven, students-first educator through civic engagement. The Illinois native resides from the southeast side of Chicago. 

Nichols previously served as District Director of Accreditation, Assessment, and Educational Development at the City Colleges of Chicago – District Office (DO). His role supported senior leadership at our seven, independently accredited colleges in the following areas:

  • Regional and programmatic reaccreditation
  • Curricular and co-curricular assessment practices
  • Assurance of Tenure Assistance Program 
  • Faculty and staff professional development
  • Local and global civic engagement through internationalization 
  • Ethical review of research projects 

While at Kennedy-King College (KKC), one of the City Colleges of Chicago, Nichols held positions as Associate Dean of Instruction and Director of Academic Support Services. In the aforementioned positions, he served as an advocate for measuring student learning, program review, and managing restricted and unrestricted funds.

At prior institutions, Nichols functioned in various roles in higher education as a Residence Life Coordinator, Student Development Assistant, First Year Experience Advocate, Psychology Instructor, and Psychology Faculty-in-Residence. 

Nichols holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University - Washington, D.C. In conjunction to his work in higher education, Nichols has also worked as an expressive therapist at Washington Adventist Hospital located in Takoma Park, MD.

A student of servant and transformative leadership, Nichols underscores the belief in sharing power, putting the needs of others first, and helping stakeholders to develop and perform as highly as possible.
