Lisa Holewa

Lisa Holewa is a former national news reporter turned public elementary school teacher, currently teaching upper elementary at a public Montessori school in San Mateo, California.  She previously taught in Milwaukee Public Schools and worked as a national news reporter for The Associated Press, based in Milwaukee, Detroit and Tampa, covering high-profile court trials, hurricanes, wildfires, riots, education, politics and business. She is passionate about teaching students about their world and using news articles to help them begin to understand events unfolding around them and their own impact on their communities. She holds a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and has published two books.
