Liz Taylor

TEACHER FELLOW

Liz Taylor has twenty years of experience as a history teacher in Richmond, CA and Philadelphia, PA. Liz currently teaches Social Science and African American history at Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School in Philadelphia. In addition to her teaching duties, Liz is the history department facilitator, the sponsor of the school’s National History Day program, and supports student-run voter registration and education initiatives. Liz has twice been recognized as the NHD Philly educator of the year and was the National History Day in Pennsylvania educator of the year in 2020. She has also received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching and is a co-author of A Guide to Student Research and Historical Argumentation. Liz earned a B.A. in Ethnic Studies from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an M.A. in history from Temple University. Outside of school, Liz enjoys walking, jogging, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
