Samela Sateré-Mawé, 24, is the daughter of the leader Sonia da Silva Vilacio, of the Sateré-Mawé people, from the Andirá-Marau Indigenous Land, in the lower Amazon River.
She is a biology student at Amazonas State University in Manaus, Brazil. She is also a member of the Association of Indigenous Women Sateré-Mawé (AMISM). The activist also participates in the Indigenous Students Movement of Amazonas and is a presenter on the Reload Channel.
She participated in the first Young Citizens Workshop in 2018 and has been a communicator for the Young Citizens of the Amazon blog since 2020.
