Pandumaan-Sipituhuta Community Treats and Restores Indigenous Forests

Country:

Author:

The Indigenous people of Pandumaan-Sipituhuta obtained the designation of customary forest for around 2,393 hectares of land in early 2021. Around 700 families have begun to restore customary forest that had been included in claims from TPL.

In an effort to maintain the sustainability of customary forests, the Pandumaan-Sipituhuta community carried out restoration by means of replanting. However, the restoration of eucalyptus gardens on a large scale is difficult. The TPL company is also expanding the eucalyptus plantation area on the concession claim.
