Max G. Levy

Max G. Levy is a freelance science and environmental journalist based in Los Angeles. His work uncovers the human stories behind discoveries across public health, nature, and fundamental science for publications including Wired, Quanta Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, and elsewhere.

Levy earned a doctorate in chemical and biological engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with research developing antibiotics for drug-resistant bacteria. He enjoys bringing the same fascination with invisible, microscopic drama to his writing. 

Levy got his start as an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at Wired, and he is cocreator of Sequencer Magazine, a writer-owned science media site and newsletter.
