The Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, informed on his Twitter account Wednesday, June 15, that "human remains" were found in the search for the Indigenous activist Bruno Pereira and the British journalist Dom Phillips in the Javari Valley.

According to Torres, the human remains "will be submitted to forensics." The information was confirmed the night of Wednesday, June 15, at the Federal Police press conference in Manaus.

Eduardo Alexandre Fontes, Superintendent of the PF/AM, said that the material will be forwarded tomorrow to the Institute of Criminalistics so that other questions can be answered, such as the cause of death and the circumstance of the crime. "There was a clash and it would have been with a firearm," said Fontes, who reaffirms that the investigation remains secret and that only the forensics team will confirm. "New arrests may still occur," he said.
