Led by Science & Health Editor Eliza Barclay, the Vox team created a visual explainer series integrating photographs, drone video, text, and stepper graphics to help audiences become intimately familiar with three remarkable tree species from Brazil, Indonesia, and DRC, respectively. With a focus on the superpowers of these "supertrees," the team conveys their unique ecological roles and the urgency of protecting the forests that remain. The Vox team also used graphics to show how close we are to the tipping points and the consequences—cascading ecosystem collapse—of exceeding them. In this unique, interactive format, readers can see that what happens to these forests truly affects all life on Earth.
