David Maurice Smith

Canadian documentary photographer and multimedia journalist David Maurice Smith's work focuses on exploring the issues facing marginalized communities. His images have appeared in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian and he also works regularly for NGO's and non-profit organizations. He is a member of the Oculi Photographic Collective and is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
David's work has been recognized in the International Photography Awards, The American Photography Awards and by the Walkley Foundation. His images have been exhibited at the International Centre for Photography (NYC), The Museum of the City of New York, The State Library of New South Wales and as a part of PHOTOVILLE (NYC), The Contact Photography Festival, The Delhi Photo Festival and The American Photography Symposium.
David's process is informed by a previous ten year career in social services where he worked with individuals in crisis.
