Brian W. Simpson is the founding editor-in-chief of the news website and daily newsletter Global Health NOW.
Simpson's Pulitzer Center-supported project When the Money Goes Away: Saving Lives in Uganda and Beyond chronicled the fallout of massive U.S. health aid cuts—impacts and adaptations, with work featured by the Solutions Journalism Network.
A founder of the Alliance of Global Health Journalists, Simpson focuses on U.S. and global public health issues. He has reported from India, Cuba, Nepal, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, and other countries. He has covered various health topics, including the neglected disease mycetoma, polio vaccine development, and microplastics threats.
Simpson is a lecturer in the master’s in science writing program at Johns Hopkins University. He earned a master's in public health from Hopkins.
His work has appeared in Smithsonian magazine, NPR, and The Baltimore Sun, among other outlets.
