Jessica Obert

INTERN

Jessica Obert is a multimedia journalist and documentary filmmaker. She is especially interested in exploring the symbiosis between humans and their environment and reporting on the global issues of gendercide, immigration and climate change.

Jessica is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she earned her B.A. in Journalism with a related area in Gender, Religion and Sociocultural Anthropology.

Jessica's work has been published in The Arizona Republic, Arizona Highways, Phoenix New Times, as well as Arizona State University's State Press Magazine. Jessica was also Poetry Editor of Crosscurrents Literary & Arts Magazine at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

Not only has Jessica reported along the U.S.-Mexico border on the state of deported children in Nogales, Sonora, but she has filmed multiple short-form documentaries ranging from artist features to the Sundance Film Festival to the problem of gentrification in the neighborhoods of Phoenix, Arizona.
