On Monday, February 24, 2020, please join us for a Talks @ Pulitzer, as Pulitzer Center grantee and photojournalist Marcio Pimenta discusses his reporting in the Amazon.
Pimenta's Pulitzer Center-supported projects focus on activism and the environment in the Amazon. Most recently, he covered the 2019 fire outbreaks that devastated vegetation and communities. Another focus of Pimenta's Pulitzer Center-supported reporting highlighted the Wampi ethnic group of Peru as they defended their territory from illegal miners and the oil industry.
Pimenta is a freelance photojournalist based in southern Brazil. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and El País. Previous reporting projects have brought him to Iraq, where he covered the rebirth of the Yazidi women, and Antarctica.
This event is the second of a 2020 Talks @ Pulitzer series on political and environmental reporting from Latin America.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Light reception at 5:30 p.m., with program start at 6:00 p.m.
