The 11th episode of this series, "Voices of the Forest: The Chico Mendes Forest Peoples Alliance in Our Times," interviews Indigenous educator Dede Maia. The interview contains a conversation about the mysteries and charms of the forest, the lives of seringueiros (rubber tappers) and Indigenous peoples, the exploitation of the rubber trees, pedagogy based on Paulo Freire, Txai, and Indigeneity in Acre, the importance of knowledge and memory for Indigenous peoples, and the search for answers to contemporary dilemmas in a time of devasatation and violence.

"I never in my life imagined witnessing what I am seeing today. But at the same time I feel a little bit of satisfaction to see that somehow, what we did back then, is serving us today," she says.

"Nunca imaginei na minha vida presenciar isso que estou presenciando hoje. Mas ao mesmo tempo eu sinto um pouco assim de satisfação de ver que de alguma forma o que nós fizemos lá atrás está nos servindo hoje", Dede Maia.
