Among the 215 mayoral candidates in the state of Rondônia, 70 own farms declared in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), in 52 municipalities. In other words, almost one third of the contestants own land. As for cattle ranching, 26 candidates declared themselves owners of cattle. These numbers amplified the fear of leaders of social movements in the state regarding the growth of violence in the countryside, the delay in settlement regularizations, and the criminalization of unproductive land occupations.

Farms in the hands of Rondônia's candidates total 15,210.84 hectares, a little less than the territory of Aruba. The size of these areas should be greater, since 22 candidates did not declare the size of their properties. Only the seven largest landowners among the aspiring mayors hold 10,405.55 hectares of land.
