Khalifa Said Rashid

Khalifa Said Rashid is a Tanzanian journalist and co-founder of The Chanzo, a digital media outlet where he serves as Editor-in-Chief. Launched in 2020, The Chanzo focuses on investigative journalism, tackling political, social, and human rights issues in Tanzania and East Africa. Known for his bold reporting, Rashid has earned a reputation for holding both government officials and non-state actors accountable, often covering controversial topics despite the challenges posed by Tanzania’s limited press freedom.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Tumaini University College in Dar es Salaam (2016) and has participated in various media training programs. Before founding The Chanzo, he worked as a political and feature reporter for The Citizen and Mwananchi, two of Tanzania’s leading newspapers. His work has been featured in international outlets like Development, The Elephant, and Africa Is a Country, covering issues such as citizenship, governance, and Tanzania's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
