GRANTEE

Liam Casey is an award-winning journalist who covers Ontario provincial politics for The Canadian Press. He has been with Canada's national news agency for a decade and has covered some of the country's biggest court cases, national tragedies and the daily political file. He has also reported extensively on the country's growing homelessness problem as well as the multitude of problems that plague First Nations in remote parts of Ontario. His reporting on Marineland, a tourist attraction in Niagara Falls, Ontario, that keeps whales and dolphins, sparked a change in law both provincially and federally when the Canadian government banned keeping whales and dolphins in captivity.
