Deborah Van Roy

2013 W&M REPORTING FELLOW

Sharp seminar 2012-2013 participant Deborah Van Roy is a senior at the College of William & Mary majoring in Culture, Globalization, and Immigration with a minor in sociology. The opportunity to participate in Borderlands, a course that was accompanied by a trip to the US-Mexico Border, convinced her to focus her undergraduate studies toward this field. The trip led her to curate an exhibit of border art for the Muscarelle Museum. She also assisted law professor Angela Banks with research on self-deportation and is currently working with professor Deenesh Sohoni on an analysis of the American public's response to anti-immigration websites and their perceptions of immigrants.
