Alexandra Radu is a Romanian independent journalist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the last 8 years since she has been working as a freelance photojournalist and writer in SE Asia, Alexandra has been documenting social, cultural, environmental, daily news stories in Malaysia and Indonesia and occasionally in other countries of SE Asia. Her images and articles were published with Al Jazeera, The New York Times, Religion News Service, South China Morning Post, among others.
Her images published with Religion News Service have won awards for “Excellence in religion reporting (photography)” at the Religion News Association Awards for Religion Reporting Excellence in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Her coverage of the Hong Kong democracy protests has won 3rd place in the Photojournalism category of the “Superscrieri” Romanian Journalism Awards in 2020.
