Lauryn Claassen

REPORTING FELLOW

Lauryn Claassen is a Master of Public Health candidate at Boston University where she is focusing on health communication and promotion as well as sex and gender. She describes her experience reporting on women's health policy and the international disaster response in El Salvador as transformative to the way she thinks about public health, and she is pursuing the topic for her senior thesis. After graduation, she hopes to combine her professional experience in marketing and social media with her passion for reproductive health education and social justice in low-resource settings.

She currently works at M+R, a US-based communications and advocacy consultant company, writing for organizations including the American Heart Association and Tobacco Free Rhode Island.

Lauryn has a BA in peace & conflict studies and broadcast journalism from Chapman University. She studied abroad in Argentina and South Africa to compare the national reconciliation after civil conflict and has traveled extensively in Central and South America.
