Yency del Carmen Dacosta Camico

Yency del Carmen Dacosta Camico is a journalist with a degree from the Universidad Bicentenaria de Aragua. A specialist in public management, she is a member of the Indigenous Baré people. She grew up in Puerto Ayacucho, in the Venezuelan state of Amazonas.

At a young age, she began to prepare for a career in journalism, participating in workshops as a reporter, led by Radio Fe y Alegría. She was part of the team of the Executive Secretariat of Information and Interinstitutional Relations and of the Indigenous Secretariat of the Amazonas State Government, in the position of press chief.

She also served as head of press and then president of Fundación Radio La Voz del Orinoco, where she strengthened her knowledge in production and radio work. She participated in the journalistic research project Atlas del silencio on news deserts in Venezuela, promoted by the Instituto Prensa y Sociedad Venezuela.

She is currently a member of the research team of the Venezuelan Violence Observatory of Amazonas State, where she monitors, records, and systematizes incidents of interpersonal violence that occur in the region.

She is part of the editorial team of El Radar Amazonas, formed by a group of journalists in charge of covering the south of Venezuela.
