Kavita Pillay

Kavita Pillay is a documentary filmmaker and reporter. She has reported from Singapore, Poland, India, and Finland for PRI's The World and was one of five filmmakers selected to produce radio documentaries for 'Neighborhood', a collaboration between the BBC World Service and the Sundance Institute. Her documentary film on Indian men named Stalin and Lenin is currently in post-production and will debut in spring 2019. As a filmmaker, Kavita's work has been supported by grants from the LEF Foundation, the Sundance Documentary Film Program, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Garrett Scott Documentary Development Grant, and WGBH Boston. Kavita is a two-time Fulbright grantee to India, where she gained new insights into caste and the complex ways in which it shapes people's lives.
