Born into a borderlands family, Arizona journalist Terry Greene Sterling has long covered the American Southwest and northern Mexico for local and national media.

Sterling is a three-time Arizona Virg Hill Journalist of the Year and editor at large for the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting. She's covered the people, politics, and places of the borderlands and the American Southwest for The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Slate, National Journal magazine, Newsweek, the Daily Beast, and the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting, among others.

She wrote Illegal, Life and Death in Arizona's Immigration War Zone and co-wrote Driving While Brown: Sheriff Joe Arpaio Versus the Latino Resistance.
