Carlos Ballesteros

Carlos Ballesteros is a journalist from Chicago. Starting in June 2020, Ballesteros joined Injustice Watch, a nonprofit newsroom in Chicago, as a staff reporter covering the criminal justice system and immigration enforcement in the Midwest.  

Prior to Injustice Watch, Ballesteros spent two years at the Chicago Sun-Times covering immigrant and working-class communities of color on the South and West sides of the city as part of the inaugural cohort for Report for America. 

Ballesteros was also a breaking news reporter for Newsweek in New York and a freelancer for In These Times and The Nation. He graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in history.
