Claudia Torrens is a Spanish journalist based in New York. She works for The Associated Press, where she covers immigration and stories related to Latino immigrants in the United States. At the AP, she has written about poor immigrant families opting out of food stamps because of fear of deportation, gang violence in Long Island, and the trial of Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzman. Prior to the AP, she worked in Massachusetts, where she covered the Latino population of the outskirts of Boston for the MetroWest Daily News.
