Arturo Torres

Arturo Torres Ramirez, from Ecuador, is a freelance journalist and co-founder of Código Vidrio. 

Previously, he was the general editor at El Comercio in Quito. Before that, he was the research editor, coordinator, and editor of the judicial section of El Comercio, where he was responsible for corruption coverage and judicial and security issues. Ramirez has also reported for the newspapers El Universo and Tiempos del Mundo. 

In 2004, Ramirez won the Transparency International, Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (IPYS), and Open Society Institute's awards for researching corruption in Latin America. He was a finalist for the same award in 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2013. In 2009, he was also awarded the Jorge Mantilla Ortega Award for his reporting on the bombing in Angostura and the UNP National Journalism Organization award for his investigations on the FARC and several Ecuadorian politicians. 

He also wrote a book on the same topic called El juego del Camaleón, los secretos de Angostura (The Game of Chameleon, the Secrets of Angostura) in the same year. He was part of the team that investigated the Panama Papers with ICIJ.
