Emily Bregel

Emily Bregel is an investigative reporter with 12 years of experience covering vulnerable communities and social issues, including substandard housing in mobile home parks, the fallout from evictions, lack of access to mental health care, workplace safety violations, child poverty, and overmedicated foster youth.
Bregel has worked for daily newspapers in Baltimore; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Tucson, Arizona.
Her reporting has been recognized by the Arizona and Tennessee newspaper associations, the Arizona Press Club, and the Best of the West journalism contest. She received a bachelor’s degree in American studies from Columbia University, where she was a reporter and design editor for the daily student newspaper.
A Baltimore native, Bregel is now based in San Carlos, Sonora, where she teaches English as a foreign language and freelances for the Arizona Daily Star.
