Enayat Asadi

Iranian-born Enayat Asadi is a visual researcher. His photography concentrates on social problems, violence, human rights violations, poverty, injustice, and social discrimination.
In 2009 he started photography self-taught. Two years later, he traveled to Afghanistan and covered the war there. From 2017 to 2019, he began photographing Afghan immigrants and covering illegal immigration. He has dedicated his career to documenting the lives of Middle Eastern people.
In 2017, he was selected for the Native and Everyday Projects Mentorship Program. In 2018 he was a recipient of the W. Eugene Smith Fellowship.
Asadi has been a finalist and winner in several international photography competitions.
His awards include third place, World Press Photo Award for Contemporary Issues; first place, Direct Look photo contest; second place, LensCulture Black and White Photography Award; finalist, Leica Oskar Barnack Award; finalist, Photography 4 Humanity Award.
In 2020 he participated in the 32nd edition of the International Festival of Photojournalism “Visa pour l’Image—Perpignan."
