Jacqueline Kamei

REPORTING FELLOW

Jacqueline Kamei is a staff writer for Glendale Community College’s campus paper El Vaquero and was the editor-in-chief for the Spring 2022 semester. Jacqueline also served as a student ambassador for the Foundation for California Community Colleges where she promoted federal, state, and local resources to help address food insecurity. Her journalism work covers numerous topics ranging from women’s rights to food insecurity. She also introduced a series on compassion that strives to provide hope and the motivation to remain positive and inspired during these challenging times while prompting reflection to encourage people to be the best versions of themselves. She plans to continue contributing in the coming academic year.

Jacqueline considers each life experience to be a part of her journey of growth. She is passionate about storytelling to convey valuable messages whether it be through written work, dance, or other mediums, and she is inspired by her belief in the importance of education and lifelong learning. Jacqueline is majoring in psychology, and she aspires to become a psychology professor who implements compassion and empathy in her work to create a more harmonious society. She has started conducting research focused on cultivating compassion to build a more benevolent world now and for future generations. Her objective is to incorporate her findings in teaching methodologies within educational institutions, parenting techniques, and television programs to cultivate the highest level of compassion in people. Jacqueline hopes she prompts reflection through her work and to, one day, strengthen the skills of her students to critically analyze the material they are learning and the world around them so that they will examine situations and issues from multiple perspectives rather than fall into either-or fallacies.
