Jon Cohen

Jon Cohen is a widely published magazine writer and author of four nonfiction books on scientific topics. Cohen began writing for Science in 1990 and now is a senior correspondent for the magazine.
His stories have also appeared in the New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine, Washington Post Magazine, BuzzFeed, Smithsonian magazine, Technology Review, Outside, Slate, Washington City Paper, Surfer’s Journal, Surfer, and many other publications.
His television appearances include the PBS NewsHour, the Today show, Amanpour & Company, the Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, and the Larry King Show. He also has been featured in several documentaries and has appeared on NPR and BBC radio programs.
Cohen specializes in biomedicine and infectious diseases, and has done field reporting on health topics in more than 50 countries.
He has won several awards for his work, including two national Emmys and top prizes from the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the National Association of Science Writers, and the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing.
Cohen has a degree in science writing from the University of California, San Diego.
