Luke Messac

REPORTING FELLOW

Luke Messac is a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is enrolled in a dual-degree MD/PhD program. His graduate research focuses on the history of social medicine in the United States and the history of health economics in southern Africa. His writing has been published in the journal Social Science & Medicine and in a forthcoming volume edited by Paul Farmer entitled Reimagining Global Health: An Introduction (University of California Press).
A native of Boston, Luke graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Social Studies. He currently serves as student editor of The New Physician, the magazine of the American Medical Student Association.
