Monica Jha

Monica Jha is a freelance journalist based in Bangalore, India. She writes about gender, marginalization, and technology, and specializes in longform stories.
She was a winner of the 2020 Stop Slavery Media Award and was nominated (winner to be announced) for the True Story Award 2020/21. She was also a finalist for the Society of Publishers in Asia 2020 Awards and the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize 2015. In addition, Jha was on the longlist for the One World Media Awards 2021.
She has conducted training programs for Thomson Reuters Foundation for journalists to report on human trafficking and modern slavery. Her works have appeared in Daily Beast, Rest of World, Coda Story, London Evening Standard, Fifty Two, Fountain Ink, and Factor Daily. She has an undergraduate degree in engineering (electronics and communication) and a PG diploma in journalism (print and web).
