Nicole Cusick
TEACHER FELLOW
Nicole is an educator and writer with over 15 years of experience teaching journalism, English literature, and poetry at Hunter College High School in New York City. She has served as a Peer Leadership faculty advisor, longtime newspaper advisor, Faculty Council member, and advisor to Hunter’s PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs Club. Nicole helped create the Mildred E. Speiser Journalism Conference, which connects students with journalists from outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CNN. She has completed professional development with the Equity Literacy Institute and in student wellness, AI in education, and integrating visual arts into the English classroom. Raised in Vermont and a New Yorker for over 20 years, she studied Creative Writing and Journalism at Northwestern University and earned a Master’s in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
