Sheriff Bojang Jr.

Sheriff Bojang Jr. is an award-winning Gambian print, radio, TV, social media and online journalist, blogger and communications consultant. 

Currently the President of The Gambia Press Union (the umbrella body representing all media practitioners in The Gambia), he spent the last decade serving as Foreign Correspondent for the English service of Radio France International, Radio Netherlands and West Africa Democracy Radio, covering West Africa.

Sheriff has also worked as West Africa stringer for the Guardian (UK), London-based pan African magazine New African, Chinese news agency (Xinhua), Aljazeera, France 24 TV and Africa 24 TV.

Among the biggest highlights of Sheriff's journalism career is his coverage of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone which resulted to his nomination as finalist for the 2015 CNN African Journalist of the Year Award.

Sheriff was also a finalist for the 2012 FitzGerald Prize for Young African Journalists, becoming the second most prominent young African journalists – by Reuters. At the 2011 Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Award organized in Rwanda by Washington-based Search for Common Grounds, Sheriff won the Gender Award for his radio documentary on the prevalence of rape in Senegal.
