Wilfred Leeuwin is a Surinamese Freelance investigative journalist specialized in Politics and the Environment. From 2011 to 2017, he was chairman of the Surinamese Association of Journalists (SVJ). Leeuwin is an avid advocate of the right to freedom of expression and the right to information. In 2013, he worked with the International Press Institute (IPI) to remove defamation laws from the criminal law of former European colonies. In 2018, he published a series of articles on flight safety with the Surinamese Airline. For the past 12 years, he has specialized in researching and publishing about environmental related issues and is a member of the International Community for Biodiversity.
