Starting from the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport in Calabar, Cross River State — Katsina-Ala, Benue State in Nigeria, the superhighway has huge impacts on nearby protected areas, namely Cross River National Park, Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary, Afi River Forest Reserve, Ukpon River Forest Reserve, and Cross River South Forest Reserve. The future of endangered species within the intact forests landscapes and the tropical rainforest in this well-endowed ecosystem will also be affected.
In this project, there will be rigorous archival research on the Cross River State Super Highway Project and accompanying environmental problems. Re-routing the proposed roads may have a wide range of environmental impacts, affecting 185 villages and 60,000 villagers.
Employing statistical data and analysis, this project will be taking into account the socioeconomic and health impacts of the Cross River State Super Highway Project.
