Gabon-DRC: Community Forestry, a Two-Faceted Reality

Authors:

On the one hand, this project will highlight the achievements of community forests in Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which can serve as an example for other countries.

On the other hand, it will attempt to identify the challenges faced by the various stakeholders, given that community forestry models in the Congo Basin are often imposed on communities as highly technical and costly procedures that ignore local realities. This affects communities' traditional way of life.

This project aims to understand the obstacles surrounding the creation of a community forest in both countries, and the repercussions of this sustainable management model for biodiversity conservation.
