Marco Garro

Marco Garro is a Peruvian photographer who began his career as a photojournalist in local newspapers. His works focuses on environmental and social issues in his native Peru. He has a B.A degree in communication and received a scholarship to complete a master’s photography degree program in Peru.
Garro is a National Geographic Explorer. He received a photography residency at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac. He was awarded first place in the photography salon held by the Peruvian-North American Cultural Institute in Lima (2017). Garro also received first place in the press organization IPYS’s best photography in two years (2016 - 2018).
He joined Supayfotos, a Peruvian collective focused on photo documentalism, that has exhibited in Peru and abroad. He represented the collective in the international photojournalism festival Visa Pour L´image for four years straight. Garro has also had a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Peru, participated in the Biennial of Photography in Peru, and been part of several group exhibitions in festivals and museums exhibitions in Peru and abroad. His work had been published in international media such as the New York Times, Bloomberg, Internazionale, Financial Times, El País, Het Financieele Dagblad, and Svenska Dagbladet, among others.
