Mohammed Zaanoun

Mohammed Zaanoun is an award-winning, independent Gazan photojournalist working in the field for 20 years. Zaanoun's work has been published in Le Monde, The New York Times, BBC, and Al-Jazeera, among others. Zaanoun is part of the Activestills photography collective.
Zaanoun was severely injured while covering the 2006 Israeli invasion of the Al-Shujaiyya neighborhood.
Since October 7, 2023, Zaanoun photographed the destruction of Gaza. The photojournalist's family moved to Rafah at the beginning of the war. A bomb destroyed their home. They evacuated to Cairo in February 2024.
