Beto Ricardo and Márcio Santilli, co-founders of ISA (Instituto Socioambiental), are the subjects of the ninth interview in this series, titled "Voices of the Forest: The Chico Mendes Forest Peoples Alliance Today." This interview contains a conversation about Indigenous issues and the dictatorship, the Constitution, the forest peoples' discovery of Brasília and extractive reserves, and the mistakes of the Left in the contemporary struggle.

Beto Ricardo: "People who were alive during the dictatorship, where the issue of security had to do with State repression, are now faced with the challenge of institutionalized violence. But we will prevail."

Márcio Santilli: "I think this is a litmus test. It's a historic opportunity, thinking through the contradictions and through the absurd, it is a historic opportunity for us to reflect and get a sense of what we want to keep from what we did before."
