Ibrahim Adeyemi

Ibrahim Adeyemi is an investigative journalist who has covered humanitarian crises and reported impactful stories holding the government accountable.

A chief investigative reporter with the Nigerian newspaper Premium Times, he has over six years of experience in conflict and terrorism reporting and investigative journalism. 

He was the author of Merchants of Terror, a three-part series that uncovered the finance schemes of Nigeria’s ravaging terrorists. The series exposed how state taxes end up in the pockets of terror groups and how citizens in the war zones are enslaved and tortured by the invading militants.

in addition, he reported on a looming crisis in southeast Nigeria's Ebonyi state caused by politically motivated communal clashes. He also exposed the Nigeria air force’s illegal operations that killed child victims of Boko Haram terrorists. Before then, in 2021, he went undercover to expose the forested enclaves and hideouts of armed and menacing kidnappers terrorizing the country’s southwest region.

His three-part series Memoirs of Carnage exposed how the Nigerian army masterminded the massacre of innocent citizens in Nigeria’s Benue state.

His investigative reporting has earned him several honors, including the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting and the Diamond Award for Media Excellence. He was nominated for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalists Award and was shortlisted for the One World Media Award.

He graduated from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, with a degree in English Language.
