Pierre Claver Banyankiye is a Burundi-based data journalist with six years of experience in print media, specializing in economic and environmental issues. He started his career as an economic journalist in the Iwacu Newspaper before embracing data journalism, following the Global Investigative Journalism Network training, in 2018. Since then, Banyankiye has done reporting and open data analysis to cover economic and environmental news. Currently, he works for Yaga, a Burundian online platform. In 2021, as part of the InfoNile Data Journalism Mentorship Program project in partnership with Water Journalists Africa, Banyankiye trained five journalists from the Great Lakes region in data collection and processing for the production of articles related to forest management.
