A graduate of the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas, Roaldo Ribeiro is an experienced journalist who worked for 27 years at Editora Abril, in São Paulo, as magazine editor. He started his career in 1990.

After two years as a reporter for Playboy, A Semana em Ação, and Quatro Rodas magazines, he helped develop the first adventure travel and environmental conservation magazine in Brazil, Caminhos da Terra. Over 8 years at the magazine, he traveled to more than 30 countries and to all Brazilian states to write reports on various themes, including conservation, science, culture, and ecotourism. This experience allowed him to be invited to be the senior editor of the Portuguese edition of National Geographic, launched in Brazil in May 2000.

Over the past 19 years, Ronaldo was responsible for managing the content of the magazine in Portuguese, coordinating a team of translators, and assembling a network of collaborators—reporters and photographers—to write Brazilian reports within the photographic quality criteria and documentary language used by the century-old publication.
