Lam Le is an investigative journalist and editor based in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her work goes beyond the headlines to reveal and examine long-lasting and hidden impacts of unjust policies on marginalized groups.

Some of her notable writings covered women human rights defenders’ fight against unjust land grabbing in Thailand, the plight of undocumented Vietnamese migrants in Taiwan, a critical assessment of #MeToo in Vietnam, and commentary on the narrative surrounding 39 Vietnamese migrants found dead in a container truck in Essex, England. For the latter, Lam won the ILO’s 2020 Global Media Competition on Labour Migration and Fair Recruitment.

Her work has appeared in The Wall Street JournalThe GuardianSouth China Morning Post, and New Naratif.

Before venturing into freelancing, Lam was deputy editor at VnExpress International, Vietnam’s most-read English-language newspaper.

When she is not working on a story, you can find her mentoring and helping out young debaters.
