Farming is a source of livelihood and cultural identity for traditional Dayak communities in Central Kalimantan. When this tradition stops, food independence is disrupted.

The tradition of farming, which in the Dayak Ngaju language is called bermalan, has now stopped due to the burning ban policy. Burning is a part that is difficult to remove from the tradition. This can be seen in Kalumpang Village, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan.
