Atalaia do Norte (AM)—Five more people—in addition to the three fishermen and hunters currently in prison—have already admitted some role in the process of destruction of belongings or in the concealment of the bodies of the indigenous activist Bruno Pereira and the British journalist Dom Phillips. The investigated, of which three are brothers, and one is the son of the main person involved in the crime, Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira, "Pelado," presented themselves at the police station of Atalaia do Norte (AM) in the last few days accompanied by the same lawyer.
Domingos Sávio Pinzon Rodrigues, 44, Federal Police (PF) Deputy who is acting as coordinator of the PF investigation which runs parallel to the Civil Police inquiry, said that the five people under investigation were from the same small community on the Itaquaí riverbank where "Pelado" and several of his relatives lived. The village of São Gabriel, with about 15 houses, is about 15 minutes by small boat from the site of the murders, which occurred on the morning of June 5. The police are now evaluating whether it is necessary or advisable to request some kind of provisional arrest for the new investigators.

The exact role of each of the five suspects is still being investigated by the police, including after a reconstruction of the crime, which last week brought together experts, witnesses and suspects on the Itaquaí river.
The versions presented by the investigated are being received with caution by the PF, which fears that a combination of narratives has occurred.
