Javari, Land of Conflicts and Organized Crime

The Rainforest Journalism Fund is supporting Brazilian independent media outlet Agência Pública on a series of investigative reports in the Vale do Javari, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. The Agência Pública team is in the region to investigate and inform the public about the actions of the authorities and institutions in the case of the murders of British journalist Dom Phillips and Indigenous expert Bruno Pereira.

Additional funding for this reporting project comes from the Knight Science Journalism Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and from the Alicia Patterson Foundation, the journalism organization that had funded Phillips’ work over the past year.

We’re grateful to them both for joining this cause.
