Gabriela Portilho is a journalist and documentary photographer graduated at the University of São Paulo and at the Université Lumière Lyon II, in France.
Her work is focused on investigating the relationship of human beings with their symbolic, religious, and mythological universe, permeating oneiric territories.
As a photographer Portilho has worked for several international publications such as The New York Times, National Geographic, The New Yorker, Vogue, New York Magazine, Wallpaper magazine, Capital magazine, Causette, and De Volkskrant. Her work has also been published in other media such as National Geographic Latam, El País, Superinteressante magazine, Nova Escola, O Estado de São Paulo, UOL Tab, Plaza Pública newspaper, Crisis, among others.
She is a member of Women Photograph and Native Agency. She is also part of the Latin American collective Ruda and is one of the co-founders of Doroteia, a Brazilian collective focused on stories starred by women.
